Common Admission Test (CAT) 2020 dates have been announced by the organising committee. The test will be held on November 29, 2020. Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM Indore), the organising body for the exam this year, released the official notification at iim.ac.in, the official website of CAT.
The online registration for CAT will start from August 5, 2020, and end on September 16, 2020. Aspirants can download the admit card from October 28, 2020. Usually, the application process starts in July. However, the exam schedule has been impacted by COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the rescheduling of the dates.
CAT 2020 will be conducted in test centres spread across approximately 156 cities. Candidates will be given the option to select six test cities in order of preference. Cities and centres will be assigned to the candidates only after the last date for CAT 2020 registration. Preference order will be given due consideration during the allotment of centres to candidates.
The application fees for the candidates belong to the general category is Rs ₹2000, while for the reserved category SC, ST and PwD are Rs 1000.
CAT Exam is conducted once a year by the IIMs for admission to their Two Year MBA (PGP)courses. The exam scores are accepted by many B-schools across India. It is considered one of the most competitive entrance exam in India with more than 2 lakh students taking the exam each year. The duration of the test is 180 minutes and it consists of questions that are based upon verbal and comprehension skills, data interpretation and logical reasoning, and quantitative ability.

Eligibility Criteria for the CAT 2020
- Aspiring candidates from general category must hold a bachelor’s degree or any equivalent exam like CA/ CS/ ICWA with not less than 50 per cent of marks from any recognized board/ university/ college of India
- Candidates belonging to reserved categories require a minimum of 45 per cent of marks in graduation level or any equivalent exam to be eligible for the examination
- Students appearing for their final exams in undergraduate level or any equivalent examination are also eligible, but the admission of the candidate will be conditional.
CAT 2020 Registration Process
The registration process for CAT 2020 will be completely online. The exam conducting body i.e. IIM Indore will release a CAT 2020 registration guide and video with an objective to aid the candidates in understanding how to fill the form and make fee payment. Candidates will have to visit the site in order to complete the process. Generally, the CAT registration form requires candidates to provide their personal details, academic information, work experience and choice of programmes in order of preference.
Candidates will need to follow the following steps to take the exam
- Register on the official website and generate user id and password
- Login using the generated user ID and password and fill in the CAT 2020 application form
- Upload necessary documents including photograph and signature
- Make payment of CAT 2020 Fee
CAT 2020 Exam Date
Candidates will take the CAT 2020 exam on 29th November 2020 in their allotted test center. Candidates must ensure that they carry a downloaded copy of their CAT admit card. Additionally, CAT exam will be held in two sessions on the same day; therefore, candidates must note the exam session i.e. either morning or afternoon and reach the venue accordingly.
CAT 2020 Exam Result
Results of CAT 2020 exam is expected to be declared on second week of Jan 2021. Results will be declared online on the official website i.e. iiimact.ac.in and candidates will have to log onto the website using their registered userID and password to download the CAT scorecard.
